Tehnološki park Ljubljana – TPLJ (Technology Park Ljubljana) is a lead partner of Circular4.0 project. TPLJ is a leading national stakeholder in the development of innovative and knowledge-based entrepreneurship in Slovenia. TPLJ is an innovative tech community of more than 300 companies, uniting entrepreneurs, innovators and researchers. Together with more than 1500 professionals, TPLJ is active in the following main clusters and fields of focus: ICT, green technologies, health, smart and creative. As a creator of dialogue with policy levels and a vital node providing proactive support to the entrepreneurial community TPLJ is considered best practice example by IASP, OECD and European Commission as well as significantly contributes to S3 implementation in Sustainable manufacturing, innovative green technologies, Industrial transition and CE representing horizontal priorities of S3 for Slovenia. TPLJ is implementing over 20 national and international initiatives and is contributing to the development of solutions for Green and Digital Industrial transition.

Role in CIRCULAR4.0:

Tehnološki park Ljubljana is the Lead Partner and coordinates overall project implementation and implements training actions and possible Pilots for SMEs in the EUSALP region. The LP contributes and coordinates all other tasks. As LP TPLJ will implement its extensive project implementation experience. MGRT - Ministry of Economic Development and Technology is TPLJs Observer, but also other line ministries like SVRK - Government Office for Development and European Cohesion Policy will be involved.

The faculty “wood technology” is well-known in the furniture and wood industry and has a great network through R&D projects and 80 years of teaching wood technology. This will be a great benefit when analysing the status quo of digitalization in SME in this sector. Regarding the application of the latest technology (RFID, Tracking, assistance systems) and digital value stream simulation and tracking of life data the University has developed a life-size model factory “proto_lab”. Regarding the Circular economy, the faculty of “wood technology” is internationally involved in the research of bio-based or recycled materials and different resources for energy creation.

Role in CIRCULAR4.0:

THRo will be in charge of the activities run in upper Bavaria and will closely cooperate with the partners from Bayern & Baden Württemberg to enlarge the impact of Circular 4.0 in the German-speaking project Area.

Not only is aws a work package leader and responsible for multiple tasks in the project Circular 4.0 but is also leading one of the three transnational working groups, which focuses on Circular Design.

As the national promotional bank, aws will mainly be in charge for the activities run in Austria and will cooperate intensively with the other Austrian project partners as well as policy makers to support the project’s success.

As Salzburg’s provincial development agency Innovation Salzburg coordinates and implements the technology-, innovation-related policies of the regional government especially through SME support, SME Cluster Networks (RIS3-based) and knowledge/ technology transfer into SMEs. It provides know-how in the realization of innovative projects and business creation, fosters collaboration, activates regional hubs and provides consulting services.

Businesses are accompanied throughout their entire innovation processes; new methods are introduced via workshops or one-to-one meetings. Innovation Salzburg has worked in the field of circular economy in an Interreg Italy-Austria project (Rapid Open Innovation) focused on resource efficiency. Innovation Salzburg is a non-profit organization and no economic activities are performed on the market.

Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Entreprises (AURAE) is the economic development agency of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes regional government and is very closely connected to the policy makers. AURAE has several project managers specialised in a circular economy and is managing, for many years, a regional financing scheme for SMEs allowing them to apply for financing eco-innovation projects (INNOV’R). The agency also coordinates a network of local actors (SMEs and research centers) dedicated to waste management in the purpose of implementing innovative waste valorisation projects and has coordinated for 3 years (2015-18) the Zero waste territory program. The industry of the future and Digital are two domains included in the Smart specialisation strategy of Auvergne Rhone-Alpes and are directly linked to the scope of Circular 4.0. As an EEN member, AURAE encourages SMEs' growth, notably through the integration of numeric and digital tools into their organisation in order to improve their capacities.

Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI) is the leading Slovenian scientific research institute, covering a broad spectrum of basic and applied research in collaboration with its wide academic and business network worldwide. The staff of around 960 specialized in research in physics, chemistry and biochemistry, electronics and information science, nuclear technology, energy utilization and environmental science. Factories of the future (FoF) is one of our target areas of collaborating with the science and industry in European, international and national projects. The FoF centre is the coordinator of “Strategic research and innovation partnership (SRIP) FoF”, where leading Slovene manufacturing industry is interconnected and linked with R/D and education institutions. FoF recognised five key enabling technology (KET) areas, tightly connected with industry 4.0 technologies: robotics, control technologies, nanotechnology, photonics, plasma technology and new materials, considering circular economy.

Role in CIRCULAR4.0:

JSI will be a WP4 leader. providing knowledge regarding new key enabling technologies, industry 4.0 and within members of cluster Factories of the future also participate with experimental actions. JSI will provide knowledge on setting up a toolkit to support digitalisation, define a methodology to evaluate toolkit performance and jointly with partners identify training needs, design training modules and provide expertise in FF, KETʼs and CE in transnational working groups. As a WP leader, it will ensure the timely delivery of WPʼs 4 outputs. It will provide all necessary inputs in the scope of other WPʼs in particular action plans in WP6, pilot actions in WP5 and mapping strategies in WP3.

Chamber has managed projects regarding technology transfer and innovation for competitiveness; sustainable and environmental development; research and innovation, testing tools, methodologies, services and innovative financial instruments for SMEs.

CCIAA VE RO will support the identification of the needs both by SMEs and Technology providers on the topic of the digitalisation and the CE; will support the elaboration of the model (the toolkit, etc) in cooperation with Veneto Innovazione and will implement the pilot action addressed to SMEs. UmweltCluster Bayern is the network of excellence for environmental technologies in Bavaria. With more than 200 members the cluster connects SMEs, research institutions, municipalities and policy-makers. This broad network will be utilized within the project CIRCULAR4.0. UCB can claim various experiences in the field of Circular Economy with being project partner in the MOVECO project (Interreg DTP). The UmweltCluster Bayern staff gained high thematic competences, for instance in the field of circular product design, recycling and waste management, new business models, financing instruments and the EU Circular Economy Action Plan. In addition, UmweltCluster Bayern has set a thematic priority on the topic of digitalisation, e.g. by establishing a new UmweltCluster Bayern working group in 2018, as more and more cluster members as well as other stakeholders realise the importance of this topic.
