AlpPlan network international conference 2021 in collaboration with StMWi (19. 10. 2021)
The Academy for Territorial Development in the Leibniz Association (ARL), the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy (StMWi) and the Interreg Alpine Space Project “OpenSpaceAlps” jointly organized the international conference “Towards sustainable spatial development - transnational lessons on the safeguarding of open spaces and the reduction of land take” in order to facilitate transnational exchange on that matter in the Alpine Space. Initially planned as a live event in Berchtesgaden (DE), the conference had to be transformed into an online event due to the ongoing restrictions on business travel. On Tuesday, 19/10/2021, 80 professionals and scientists from various Alpine Space countries participated in this online conference and discussed about sustainable spatial planning approaches.

Strategic online workshop by ARL, OpenSpaceAlps and StMWi
In the context of the “AlpPlan” alpine spatial planning network, the Academy for Territorial Development in the Leibniz Association (ARL), the Interreg Alpine Space project “OpenSpaceAlps”, and the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy; Department of Regional Planning (StMWi) have joint forces in order to host a strategic online workshop on 18th May 2021. This online workshop was aimed at a selected group of about 40 experts and designed to provide a forum for professional exchange. The results will feed into the focused content of a two‐day public conference in autumn 2021 (19th – 20th October 2021 in Berchtesgaden, DE). Spatial and sectoral planning experts from different Alpine Space countries presented and discussed selected “good practices” for sustainable land-saving planning approaches.
Kick-off-meeting of the alpine spatial planning “AlpPlan” network (29. 10. 2020)
On 29th October 2020, 69 representatives from spatial planning practice and research in different alpine countries participated in an online meeting, which was supposed to mark the kick-off of the “AlpPlan” alpine spatial planning network. Several keynote speeches and thematic inputs from the OpenSpaceAlps project, national/ federal state public authorities as well as Alpine Convention and EUSALP working groups highlighted the need for increased transnational cooperation in the field of spatial planning, considering that such a network must work in close cooperation with existing alpine cooperation platforms.
